LETTER IN SUPPORT OF THE WINDOW REPLACEMENT FOR BUDGET APPROVAL
We have written a letter in support of the project delivery team, highlighting the urgent need for window replacement at Priory Court and advocating for prompt approval by the housing investment board. Ongoing issues such as property damage, health risks, safety concerns, energy inefficiencies, and resident stress underscore the immediate necessity. We believe in working together with the council team to restoring Priory Court to its former status.
WINDOW REPLACEMENT PLANNING APPLICATION RESULT
The planning application for the window replacement was granted on 14 May. While the planners addressed the arguments from our letter, they ultimately approved the application. Their detailed arguments are outlined in the Officers report. However, we maintain that the partial replacement of spandrel panels with boarding is not the optimal solution for our building. We look forward to discussing this further at the upcoming window action plan meeting on 28 May.
OUR COMMENTS ON THE WINDOW REPLACEMENT PLANNING APPLICATION
In early April, Hackney Council issued a planning notice for window replacement at Priory Court. In response, a working group under the TRA was formed and submitted a letter (see here) on 29 April 2025. We dedicated two half days to gathering support across the estate and apologise if we have not had the chance to speak with you. Please feel free to email us if you would like to discuss.
UPDATES ON ISSUES RAISED IN THE 1 APRIL MEETING
We have started a constructive collaboration with Hackney Council to address the issues raised during the last ETRA meeting (see minutes). Among other things, an asbestos investigation is now under way to understand what processes were not followed during the ad hoc replacements last winter. This has also led to a productive collaboration with the window replacement delivery team.
